TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)
After breakfast, we depart Arusha for Londorossi Gate. From here, your trek begins through lush rainforest alive with blue monkeys and exotic bird calls. After 3–4 hours of hiking, we reach Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)
Today’s trek begins in the rainforest, soon giving way to giant heathers and moorland. A rewarding uphill climb leads us to Shira Plateau — a prehistoric lava flow offering open vistas and a first glimpse of Kibo Peak.
Hiking time: 6–7 hours
Habitat: Moorland


Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)
We hike across the plateau, marveling at surreal volcanic formations and wide-open skies. This is a day for acclimatization as we camp at Shira 2, where dramatic sunsets await.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m)
A challenging yet rewarding trek via Lava Tower (4,640m) helps your body acclimatize before descending into the scenic Barranco Valley. This is one of the most photogenic sections of the route.
Hiking time: 6–7 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert to valley


Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035m)
Start the day by conquering the iconic Barranco Wall. You’ll scramble upward with the help of expert guides, rewarded by panoramic views before descending gently into Karanga Valley.
Hiking time: 4–5 hours

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m)
We push on to the base camp at Barafu, resting early in preparation for the midnight summit push. The arctic landscape here is stark and dramatic — anticipation builds.

Day 7: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descent to Mweka Camp (3,110m)
At midnight, we begin the final ascent under the stars. Witness the sun rise from Africa’s rooftop — a life-defining moment at Uhuru Peak. After celebrating, we descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
Hiking time: 11–14 hours
